Amon-Ra 2013

$158.00

In Egyptian mythology, Amon-Ra is considered to be the king of all gods. The temple of Amon-Ra was believed to be the first temple to ever plant a monoculture vineyard to produce wine for the citizens of the temple.

The eye on front of the label is the all-seeing eye of Horus or wedjat (“whole one”) – a powerful Egyptian symbol of protection. It is represented as a figure with six parts, corresponding to what Egyptians regarded as the six senses; touch, taste, hearing, sight, smell and thought.

The age of vines are between 50 – 130 years old.

Product Description

The key to Amon-Ra Shiraz is the balancing the fruit and tannin extraction, rather than maximising it. The fruit has such expression that we aim to preserve the characteristics of the vineyard rather than dominate them.

The 2013 Amon-Ra has fabulous expressions.
The characteristics of the vineyard are enhanced in the palate, preserving the origins of the wine. Brilliant purple and opaque cherry hues, there are lifted, spicy blackberry florals, with layers of earth, dark plum and espresso. Vibrant notes are present on the palate, displaying dried spice, juicy cassis and black plums. Multilayered tannins and fresh acidity will afford this vintage the ability to age supremely well over the long term.
